90-Minute Hatha Yoga Class (Sivananda)


Join our 90-minute Classical Hatha Yoga classes open to most levels of students (some experience preferable).

Day: Thursdays in our Meditation Room (no class on Thursday, October 12th)

Time: 10:00am–11:30am

After the opening mantra, enjoy breathing pranayama exercises for a few minutes. 6 rounds of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) will prepare and warm you up. Then experience our world famous 12 asanas series (postures) with variations. Short relaxations between postures contribute to absorb all the benefits. Class ends with a 15 minutes final relaxation followed by closing mantra.

This yoga class is energizing and relaxing.

Cost: Drop-in classes are $14 and a 10-Class Pass is $120.

What is Sivananda Yoga?

Sivananda yoga comes from the teachings of Swami Sivananda and is a form of hatha yoga that is focused on preserving your health and wellness. Training is less focused on athleticism and instead revolves around relaxation and full, yogic breathing. This system aims to retain your body's vitality, following a philosophy of five principles:

  1. 1) Asana (proper exericse)
  2. 2) Pranayama (proper breathing)
  3. 3) Savasana (proper relaxation)
  4. 4) Vegetarian and Sattvic (proper diet)
  5. 5) Vedanta and Dhyana (positive thinking and meditation)
